Meet Jana
Jana Cushman is a versatile composer, music supervisor, and frontperson of the dream pop/post-punk band Darkswoon.
Known for blending organic instrumentation with electronic production, Cushman creates evocative, cinematic soundscapes that elevate storytelling across genres. With early roots in classical guitar and voice, Cushman honed their craft in the Pacific Northwest’s underground music scene, fusing goth, shoegaze, and electronic music. This sonic identity led to scoring their first feature film and ignited a passion for creating music to picture.
A graduate of Berklee College of Music with a degree in Music Composition for Film, TV, and Games, Cushman has composed original music for feature films, short films, video games, and television. Their award-winning score for My Summer As A Goth and Dreams of a Dead God have earned critical acclaim. Jana is currently scoring several upcoming projects.
When they’re not composing, Jana can be found volunteering at their local cat shelter, catching a horror movie, riding their bike, or eating Thai food.
Darkswoon
Antivenom (2026)
Antivenom is Darkswoon’s third full-length album, further refining the band’s emotionally charged intersection of darkwave, post-punk, and shoegaze. Built atop a hardware-driven electronic foundation, the record balances cold mechanical textures with an intimate human core, ethereally soaring vocals floating over melodic yet gritty basslines and propulsive, kinetic rhythms, creating a dense sonic web that at times pushes Darkswoon into more expansive shoegaze territory. The songs on Antivenom function as an immersive, atmospheric whole, yet retain a sense of urgency through cautionary missives, unresolved emotions, and the weight of things left unsaid, channeling introspection into focused, resonant songwriting.
